Death Is Nothing At
All
Henry Scott Holland
Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away into the next
room.
I am I, and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other, that
we still are.
Call me by my old familiar name, speak
to me in the easy way you always used.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or
sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the
little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me.
Let my name be ever the household word
that it always was.
Life means all that it ever meant.
There is absolutely unbroken
continuity....
Why should I be out of mind because I
am out of sight.
I am waiting for you.....
for an interval....
somewhere near,
just around the corner.
All is well.
I Am Standing Upon The
Seashore
Henry Scott Holland
I am standing upon the seashore. A
ship at my side spreads her white sails to the ocean. She is an
object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until at length
she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky
come to mingle with each other.
Then someone at my side says: "There,
she is gone!" "Gone where?"
Gone from my sight. That is all. Her diminished size is in me, not in
her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says: "There,
she is gone!" there are other eyes watching her coming, and other
voices ready to take up the glad shout: "Here she comes!" And that is dying.
"Miss Me" Poem
"Miss Me But Let Me Go. When I come to
the end of the road, and the sun as set for me, I want no rites in a
gloom-filled room, why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little-but
not too long, and not with your head bowed low, remember the love
that we once shared. Miss me but let me go. For this a journey we
all must take, and each must go alone. It's all a part of the
Master's plan, a step on the road to home. When you are lonely and
sick of heart, go to the friends we know. Bury your sorrows in doing
good
deeds. Miss me but let me go."
Poem for the Grieving
Author unknown
Do not
stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am
the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of
quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft star-shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there. I did not die.
She's Gone....
Author unknown
You can shed tears that she is gone
or you can smile
because she has lived
You can close your eyes
and wish that she'll come back
or you can open your eyes and see all
she's left.
You can remember her
and only that she's gone
or you can cherish her memory
and let it live on.
Prayer - The Aspiration of the Four
Immeasurables (Love, Compassion, Joy and Equanimity).
May all beings have happiness and
the causes of happiness
May all beings be free from
suffering and the causes of suffering
May all beings realize the Joy of
Awareness
And May all beings live in peace
free from greed, addiction, aggression and prejudice
